Five family members were killed Friday afternoon after their small plane crashed in Georgia near Lake Oconee on their way to Indiana for a funeral.
The plane left Williston, Florida, and was flying into Indiana for a funeral in New Castle.
Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the plane went down around 3:15 pm. The emergency crew was able to extinguish the flames, but unfortunately, there were no survivors.
The victims on the plane were identified as Shawn Charles Lamont, 41, and his wife, Jody Rae Lamont, 43, the couple’s children Jayce,6, and Alice,4.
Also killed in the crash was the pilot and owner of the plane, who was identified as Larry Ray Pruitt, 67, Jody Rae’s father, according to Sheriff Sills.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash and has notified the National Transportation Safety Board.
