27-year-old Barbara Tommey showed up to work at Navy Federal Credit Union In Orlando, Florida, around 9 a.m. on Tuesday but never made it inside.
Her husband, Sylvester Ofori, 35, shot her multiple times in the head and killed her right outside the credit union’s door, according to WFTV.
A family member told investigators that he had threatened to kill her in an argument the day before and that the couple had been estranged for three months, living separately amid divorce proceedings.
In a press conference on Wednesday, Detective Matthew Rogers said that Ofori, who is the pastor at a local church, surrendered peacefully at his home on the charge of first-degree murder with a firearm, the Orlando Sentinel reports.
“We believe he was a pastor with a local church. He has quite a social media following where he speaks to his followers and called himself a prophet,” according to investigators.
He is the pastor at Floodgates of Heaven International Ministries in Orlando, and Ofori’s Facebook page has over 60,000 followers.
Ofori is currently in the Orange County Jail with no bond.
