A roller coaster at a Florida theme park has been temporarily shut down after a 6-year-old child fell from the ride, according to officials.Â
NBC News reports that the child fell from the Galaxy Spin ride at Fun Spot America near Kissimmee.Â
“Units arrived to find a 6-year-old with traumatic injuries under the roller coaster track, which was approximately 20 feet above,” said Osceola County Fire Rescue and EMS Office.
The boy was taken to Orlando Health Arnold Palmer after the fall, and his condition is unknown.Â
The Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services launched an investigation following the incident. A spokesperson for the agency told the outlet that the ride is closed pending the outcome of the investigation.Â
Fun Spot issued a statement regarding the incident, noting that a preliminary inspection of the coaster “found it to be in normal operating condition with no mechanical issues.” However, the ride will remain closed for now.Â
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the child and their family, and we pray for a speedy recovery,” Fun Spot said. “The safety of our guests is our number one priority.”
Fun Spot’s website describes the Galaxy Spin as “a wild mouse-style type coaster that produces heavy G forces as you go around sharp and tight corners.” The ride seats up to four people per seat and has a height requirement of 48″ or 42″ with an adult.Â
