A teen is facing felony charges after assaulting a teacher who confiscated his Nintendo Switch.
A video recently went viral showing a 6-foot 17-year-old beating on a female staff member inside of Matanzas High School in Palm Coast, after she took away his Nintendo Switch during class. The angered teenager is seen charging towards the worker before knocking her to the ground and beating her unconscious.
“The student stated that he was upset with the victim because she took his Nintendo Switch away during class,” Florida police said in a statement.
The video continues with the teenager repeatedly stomping on the worker and transitions to punching her approximately 15 times. Other staff members quickly notices the teen’s violent act and rushed over to try to stop the madness.
Authorities later arrived to the scene and found the worker unconscious and bloody. She was transported to a nearby hospital and is expected to recover from her injuries.
According to authorities, the teenager told law enforcement as he was being placed in handcuffs, he was going to “kill” the worker when he returned to school. In addition, the teen also showed violent tendencies while being processed. He allegedly grew angier after questioning his release and not getting the response he wanted.
“The actions of this student are absolutely horrendous and completely uncalled for,” Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly said. “We hope the victim will recover, both mentally and physically, from this incident.”
Nevertheless, the teenager was turned over to the Department of Juvenile Justice and is facing a felony battery charge.
