A Florida woman lied about being raped by a sheriff’s deputy during a shoplifting arrest earlier this year.
This past January, 23-year-old Marley Barberian was arrested for making a false report of sexual battery, false report of a crime, and perjury after claiming a Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputy anally raped her on the way to jail from the Greenacres Police Department, reported the Palm Beach Post.
On Jan. 9, Barberian was caught shoplifting at Target and was arrested by a 55-year-old officer. During their trip, the woman claims the white male pulled the police car to the side of the road, put a gun in her mouth “because that probably turned him on,” and then anally raped her, according to the police report. Barberian also claimed that an officer groped her.
However, it was later found that a woman performed the pat down, and the female officer said she did not assault Barberian. Reports also show a woman cop was the one who drove her to jail, not the accused officer who drove Barberian to Green Acres Police Station. Footage from the dash cam also shows the male police never made any stops.
On June 19, Barberian was convicted of stealing items from Target totaling $68.75. She was also convicted of resisting arrest with violence, battery of an officer and trespassing. She was sentenced to two years of probation. Barberian now faces up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine. She was released from Palm Beach County Jail on Saturday on a $3,000 bond.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
