Former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan says it’s time for a woman to take on the role.
Brosnan has played the role of agent 007 four times, and now the actor believes it’s time to pass the torch to a woman. “I think we’ve watched the guys do it for the last 40 years, get out of the way, guys, and put a woman up there,” Brosnan told the Hollywood Reporter. “I think it would be exhilarating, it would be exciting,” he said.
Brosnan went on to say that during his acting career, Bond was the most exciting character he’s played. “James Bond has a certain significance and a deep pride,” he said. “I will be asked about him until my dying days — it just goes with the territory. He’s a beloved character.”
The next film will be the 25th version of the character’s story and is set to star Daniel Craig. The film titled “No Time to Die,” will premiere in theaters in the UK on April 3 and will move over to the States by April 8. There have been several photos that have emerged online of Craig shooting in London, as the actor recently injured his ankle while filming in Jamaica.
Ralph Fiennes, #RamiMalek, Rory Kinnear, Ben Whishaw, #NaomieHarris, Lea Seydoux and Jeffrey Wright costar in the film. Cary Fukunaga will be directing, according to CNN.
