Apollo Nida, the ex-husband of Real Housewives of Atlanta star Phaedra Parks has been served with divorce papers by his wife, Sherien Almufti, who is accusing him of adultery, cruel treatment, and emotional abuse.
According to court documents obtained by In Touch, Sherien filed for divorce on February 7, listing their marriage date as October 14, 2022, and their separation date as November 1, 2023. She claims the marriage is beyond repair and is not seeking alimony from Apollo. In her filing, she alleges that Apollo was unfaithful multiple times, abandoned her for at least a year, and subjected her to emotional and physical abuse. She also states that he refused to seek professional help for his mental health struggles.
Sherien is requesting the court finalize their divorce and fairly divide their assets and debts. Interestingly, a settlement agreement allegedly signed by both parties in October 2024 surfaced in court this week, outlining terms for their separation. The agreement includes a permanent restraining order preventing Apollo from harassing or stalking Sherien. However, Apollo denies agreeing to the settlement, telling In Touch, “I did not agree to anything… We [will] have to have our day in court. A lot of that language is false.”
This divorce filing comes months after Apollo was arrested in March 2024 for an alleged domestic violence incident involving Sherien. Reports state that after a night out, the couple got into a heated argument, with Apollo accusing Sherien of cheating. According to the police report, he allegedly pulled her hair and pushed her against a refrigerator. Sherien ran outside for help, but when she went back inside to grab her phone, Apollo had already left.
Although surveillance footage captured a verbal altercation, the alleged physical attack was not caught on camera. Police arrested Apollo and charged him with simple battery/family violence. He was released on a $3,000 bond, and the case has had little movement since.
Apollo, who was previously married to Phaedra Parks from 2009 to 2014, shares two children with the returning RHOA star. He served nearly eight years in prison for bank fraud and identity theft before his release in 2019.
With Phaedra back on RHOA this season, fans will be watching closely to see if her ex-husband’s drama gets any mention.
