Four Atlanta teens face various charges in connection to the bullying of a 15-year-old 9th grader at Loganville High School.
The Loganville Police Department is investigating two separate events that happened last month. The victim was allegedly placed in a bathroom closet for a lengthy amount of time. In addition, the student was drenched in cleaning products. The unidentified victim was also homophobic comments.
The four students were charged with false imprisonment, simple battery, and reckless endangerment. They ranged in ages from 14 to 17-years-old. Police identified 17-year-old suspect Kelsey Julia Hayes because she has been charged as an adult. The other teens were not identified.
“School leaders at Loganville High School were made aware of a student incident that occurred before Spring Break at an after-school extracurricular activity,” the school said in a statement. “Student safety is a top priority, and school officials are investigating the incident and working with law enforcement officials to ensure the district’s code of conduct and legal charges are appropriately enforced.”
CBS46 reached out to Loganville’s principal, but he declined to comment on the incident while the investigation was ongoing. Concerned parents plan to hold an anti-bullying rally outside the high school on Tuesday.
