Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law Lara Trump has been hired by Fox News as a contributor. She is married to the former president’s son, Eric.
The network announced her addition on Fox & Friends Monday morning.
“She is a new Fox News contributor. Welcome to the family, Lara,” co-host Ainsley Earhardt announced during the segment.
Trump previously served as a senior adviser to her father-in-law’s reelection campaign. She is not the first member of the Trump administration to be hired by Fox. This month, Fox announced that former press secretary Kayleigh McEnany became a contributor, and former economic adviser Larry Kudlow joined as a contributor and host for Fox Business Network.
Trump was asked on the show about her intentions to run for senator in North Carolina.
“Fox has been very generous with me, and they have said, look, if that’s something that you ultimately decide to do, they’re going to work with me on that front and make sure that all the rules are followed, and we do everything properly,” Trump said on Fox & Friends. “So thank you to the Fox team for allowing me to have the possibility that that’s in the future. I haven’t officially made a decision, but hopefully sometime soon.”
Fox News will most likely sever its relationship with Trump as a contributor once she officially announces that she’s running for office. According to Deadline, it would raise not only issues with journalism ethics but federal election laws.
