The mystery surrounding the death of Shanquella Robinson has deepened after investigators discovered she was alive for three hours after help was called.
Robinson’s death certificate originally stated that she died within 15 minutes of sustaining a severe spinal cord injury. However, a police report obtained by the Charlotte Observer confirmed that Dr. Karolina Beatriz Ornelas Gutiérrez of the American Medical Center treated Robinson for nearly three hours before she died while vacationing in San José del Cabo.
Per the report, Wenter Donovan, one of Robinson’s friends who traveled to Mexico with her, called for medical assistance on October 29th at 2:13 p.m. House calls for non-emergency treatment are common in tourist areas of Mexico. When Dr. Gutiérrez arrived almost an hour later, she encountered a dehydrated Robinson, who was also unable to speak. When the doctor told the group she wanted to transfer Robinson to a nearby hospital, they refused and insisted that she treat the 25-year-old in the villa. Robinson’s vital signs were stable then, but when Gutiérrez tried to administer an IV, she was unsuccessful.
Robinson’s friends did not give the doctor any details regarding injuries but did say Robinson consumed “a lot of alcohol.” As the doctor tried to treat her, Robinson began convulsing and having difficulty breathing. Paramedics were called to the posh resort, and life-saving measures were attempted. Sadly, Robinson was pronounced dead at 5:25 p.m.
If this account is accurate, that will contradict the time of death listed on the autopsy report. This latest development is just another layer of the death investigation that has captivated the world. Even with the discrepancy, many are pointing to the video showing Robinson being brutally beaten as evidence that she was allegedly killed at the hands of her friend, Daejhanae Jackson.
The investigation remains ongoing.
