As the Golden State Warriors continue to bask in the ambience of the “super-villains” label, the team is simultaneously shattering their own records to stamp their emblem in NBA history.
On Saturday, the Warriors became the fastest team in league history to clinch playoff berth after defeating the Brooklyn Nets 112-95.
If you recall, the Warriors held the record last year, clinching a spot in the playoffs by February 27th, after 58 regular season games. However, this year, the team took it a step further, with the same amount of games, setting a new record two days before their previous historical success.
However, as the Warriors prepare for another historic season, the only thing this year’s team will be chasing is an NBA title, especially after what happened the year before.
Last year, the Warriors became the fastest team to clinch playoff berth, topping the 1985-86 Boston Celtics, who clinched February 28th, after that, the team went on set another NBA record with 73 regular-season wins, arguably becoming the best team in the league. However, the Warriors’ extraordinary run came to a historic ending, after the Golden State team blew a 3-1 lead in the NBA finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The loss made many believe that their historical season meant nothing, but the team is back and ready to prove that they are indeed the best team in the league, with the ability to win a ring.
