Harvey Weinstein was caught eating some chewy caramels Milk Duds while serving his time in prison.
Harvey Weinstein is currently serving a 23-year sentence in prison after he was convicted in 2020 for sexually assaulting and raping women during his time as a Hollywood film producer.
Following a visit from his attorney Shawn Burkley in November, jail guards caught the 69-year-old with Milk Duds. TMZ reports Weinstein claims he’d brought the candies with him in July after he was extradited from New York. But, jail guards think Weinstein’s attorney snuck him the chocolates.
In a statement, Weinstein’s representative Juda Engelmayer said the issue was a “misunderstanding.”
“This was an innocent misunderstanding. It will not happen again. I have been a model inmate, following the rules and regulations and I am sincerely sorry,” said Engelmayer. Weinstein’s other attorney said the judge did not punish him for having the contraband and visits from his legal team have continued.
