Woolite Delicates detergent users may want to reconsider their wash habits after the manufacturer recalled the popular laundry item.
Reckitt Benckiser LLC issued the recall for over 16,000 bottles of the detergent, sold in 50-ounce white bottles with light pink caps, exclusively on Amazon in January. The detergent, priced between $14 and $17, is marked with lot codes “S24364,” “S24365,” or “S24366.”
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced that the detergent could contain Pseudomonas species bacteria, including Pseudomonas oleovorans, typically found in soil or water. The bacteria could enter the body through the eyes or broken skin, posing a greater risk to individuals with weakened immune systems or those using external medical devices, potentially leading to infection that requires medical treatment. Healthy individuals are less likely to be affected.
While no illnesses or injuries have been reported, Reckitt Benckiser advises customers to stop using the recalled detergent and dispose of the bottle. A full refund is available by contacting the company at 800-228-4722, via email at [email protected], or online at woolite.us/Voluntary-Recall.
This recall is part of a larger trend of product safety concerns, with recent recalls affecting items such as Cybertrucks, Target-brand canned green beans, and contaminated frozen meals. For further information, consumers can reach out directly to the company or consult the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
