A haunting turn in the search for a missing Philadelphia woman has left a community shaken. Human remains were discovered in a wooded area near a local middle school, and investigators believe they may be linked to the disappearance of 23-year-old Kada Scott, who vanished after leaving her nursing home job on October 4th.
The discovery happened after a tipster sent law enforcement to a secluded area roughly 10 miles from downtown. According to Deputy Commissioner John Stanford, the information was “very specific,” and led officers directly to a shallow grave where they uncovered human remains.
“We are not going to confirm at this time that it is Miss Kada Scott because that has to be done by the medical examiner’s office,” Stanford told reporters. “But we have been in communication with her family as to this process and the fact that we have recovered a human being.”
Scott’s disappearance sparked concern after she reportedly told family members she had been receiving harassing messages. That detail became more urgent when authorities arrested 21-year-old Keon King just days before the remains were found. King is now facing charges of kidnapping and reckless endangerment.
Prosecutors say King was in contact with Scott before she went missing. He is also under renewed scrutiny for a previous kidnapping case that was dismissed when the witness didn’t show up in court. That case has since been reopened.
As police await confirmation from the medical examiner, the search for answers continues.
