Rapper Hurricane Chris‘ murder trial, which stems from a June 2020 incident, has officially begun.
KTLA recently reported that the trial commenced on Monday, March 6th, and jury selection was finalized the next day, followed by opening statements on Wednesday, March 8th. The trial was originally scheduled for January but was postponed to February 13th. However, it was further delayed because prosecutors requested additional time to prepare.
On the first day of the trial, jurors listened to recordings of three 911 calls and heard testimony from more than three witnesses called by the state, KSLA 12 reports.
Three 911 calls were played for jurors today. One witness in the calls says the deceased Danzeria Farris Jr. took his last breath at the Texaco on Hollywood Avenue. While listening to the calls from witnesses to 911 a woman left the courtroom in tears. @KSLA

The “Aye Bay Bay” rapper was arrested in June 2020 for shooting Danzeria O. Ferris Jr. outside a convenience store in Shreveport, Louisiana. Chris claimed that Ferris attempted to steal his car.
Upon the authorities’ arrival, Ferris Jr. was promptly taken to a nearby hospital due to gunshot injuries in his chest, hip, and stomach. He, unfortunately, passed away from his injuries.
Although Chris believes he acted in self-defense, investigators discovered that the video evidence of the event does not support his claim. Additionally, they found out that the car that the victim supposedly attempted to steal had been reported stolen in Texas.
Chris was released from jail after posting a $500,000 bond just two days after his arrest. He continues to maintain his innocence and believes that his name will eventually be cleared.
“Hello world, hello world, hello world,” he said in a video after posting bond. “I’m sure you got the news by now. I was involved in a very unfortunate incident on Friday morning, a very unfortunate incident. I wanna thank everybody who’s been praying for the family of the deceased and everybody who’s been praying for my family.”
He continued, “After a good, thorough investigation, my name will be cleared. Let God work, watch God work. God bless. Thank you.”
