Members of the Ku Klux Klan in Indiana have been handing out applications, and on them, they are asking for applicants to provide their blood type.
According to Newsweek, residents in Indiana have reported seeing tons of KKK application fliers posted outside of their homes. Reports show the applications were coming from the Church of the National Knights of the Ku Klux Klan. The racist organization claims the fliers were religious materials; however, applications were advertising for new membership were attached.
The KKK reportedly asked applicants to provide their race, blood type and home address on the forms. They also asked that applicants only submit a form if they are white and not Jewish. Applicants must also be in support of the segregation of all races, the news outlet reports.
While the KKK has a history of raping, brutalizing, and terrorizing communities of color, their application said their intentions are not to “threaten anyone.” The applications were posted in people’s driveways in a St. Joseph neighborhood in Indiana.
“I’ve lived here my entire life, almost 30 years, and I’ve never had someone personally talk to me about the KKK other than in school. So, for it to be first-hand in my driveway… it’s scary,” said St. Joseph resident Taylor Roberts, who said he received a flier from the KKK.
He told WSBT about the KKK’s history in the state. “Indiana is already known to be for Ku Klux Klan. Only people know about it in history books, so having it firsthand in your driveway—it needs to be done,” said Roberts. “I think it’s everything—mad, sad, frustrated. I’m worried because I have three kids of my own, and I don’t want them around this kind of experience.”
