Social media influencer Summer Wheaton has been arrested in connection with a deadly DUI crash that killed a rideshare driver on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu last year, authorities confirmed.

Wheaton, who has over 100,000 Instagram followers, turned herself in at the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station on Monday. She faces multiple charges, including gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, DUI causing bodily injury, and DUI with a blood alcohol content of 0.08% or above causing bodily injury, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The crash occurred on July 4, 2024, at around 10:30 p.m. after Wheaton attended the exclusive White Party at Nobu, a hotspot frequented by celebrities. Investigators say she was behind the wheel of a white Mercedes-Benz that crossed the center median on PCH, slamming into a vehicle driven by rideshare driver Martin Okeke, who tragically lost his life in the collision.
Okeke’s family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Wheaton late last year, alleging she was “severely intoxicated and impaired” at the time of the crash.
Authorities launched a months-long investigation, ultimately securing an arrest warrant before Wheaton’s surrender this week.
She remains in custody.
