Instagram has announced a new feature that lets users add a song to their profile, bringing back memories of the Myspace days. This update allows users to place a track in their bio area, adding a personal touch to their profiles.
Unlike Myspace, where songs would automatically play when someone visited your page, Instagram gives viewers the choice to play or pause the track. To add a song, users can go to the “edit profile” section and select a 30-second clip from Instagram’s music library, the same one used for Reels and posts.
The feature is being launched in collaboration with pop star Sabrina Carpenter. Her Instagram profile will feature a preview of a new song called “Taste” ahead of her upcoming album release on Friday. This profile music feature is the only way to hear the track before the album drops.
Additionally, Instagram has added some themed features related to Carpenter’s album, Short n’ Sweet. Using keywords like “Sabrina” or a coffee cup emoji in Notes will turn messages light blue, and there’s a special chat theme with lipstick kiss designs.
This update is a simple way to personalize your Instagram profile while also offering a nod to the past.
