Instagram says it’s working on new features for users to organize their feeds, including reintroducing the chronological view.
On Wednesday, Instagram officials wrote on Twitter, “We’ve been experimenting with Favorites, a way for you to decide whose posts you want to see higher up, and we’re working on another option to see posts from people you follow in chronological order.”
While Instagram previously displayed all posts in chronological order, an update in 2016 changed the platform to prioritize posts based on an algorithm.
It appears that Instagram’s most recent algorithm was not positively received by the majority of its users and they’ve agreed to comply with users’ requests.
Moving forward, Instagram plans to provide a variety of alternatives to viewing your timelines, such as prioritizing more recent posts or posts from your favorite accounts.
“We want to be clear that we’re creating new options — providing people with more choices so they can decide what works best for them — not switching everyone back to a chronological feed,” Instagram tweeted. “You can expect more on this early next year!”
Who’s looking forward to their timelines being back in chronological order?
