Iran has vowed a harsh retaliation after U.S. airstrikes targeted three of its nuclear sites this weekend, an aggressive military move ordered by Donald Trump that has sparked immediate and intense backlash from Tehran.
Late Saturday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi issued a grave warning on Twitter calling the strikes a clear violation of international law. “The United States, a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, has committed a grave violation of the UN Charter, international law, and the NPT by attacking Iran’s peaceful nuclear installations,” Araghchi wrote.
He continued, denouncing the airstrikes as “outrageous” and warned that the impact of this military action would ripple far beyond Iran. “These actions will have everlasting consequences,” he said. “Every UN member state should be alarmed by this reckless, unlawful behavior.”
Araghchi also hinted at potential retaliation, invoking Iran’s right to self-defense under international law. He emphasized that the country would use “all options” to protect its citizens and sovereignty.
The strikes targeted facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan, key sites in Iran’s nuclear program. While Trump celebrated the mission and praised U.S. forces for their precision and success, Iran is framing the incident as an attack on peace and stability.
With tensions now boiling over, the global community is watching closely as Iran signals its next move—one that could dramatically escalate the already volatile situation in the Middle East.
