Issa Rae has been busy building her tv empire, with shows like ‘Insecure’ and ‘A Black Lady Sketch Show’ already under her belt. Now, she’s adding ‘Rap Shit’ to her resume, which is new series set to air on HBO Max.
According to Deadline, ‘Rap Shit’ will follow the journey of a fictional female rap group from South Florida, who are trying to make it in the music industry, which has been known to be a male-dominated.
The half-hour series will be executive produced by Rae, who is also writing the pilot. Montrel McKay for Issa Rae Productions will also be an executive producer, as well as Jonathan Berry (Insecure) and Dave Becky.
Additionally, ‘Rap Sh*t’ is set to debut in May 2020 on HBO Max, the new on-demand video subscription service.
As Baller Alert has previously reported, Rae is also set to star in and produce the remake of ‘Set It Off’ through her production company. Further, the tv mogul in the making is working on a drama called ‘Him or Her’, which is a comedy about the love life of a bisexual black man.
