Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant is under investigation by the NBA and facing at least a two-game suspension by his team after brandishing a gun on Instagram Live early Saturday morning.
Morant, 23, went live on Instagram from inside a strip club around 5:19 a.m. The All-Star guard, who appeared shirtless in the video and rapping along to NBA YoungBoy’s “Bring ‘Em Out,” briefly holds a handgun up to the camera.
“We are aware of a social media post involving Ja Morant and are investigating,” NBA spokesperson Mike Bass said, according to ESPN.
Shortly after the story broke, The Athletic reporter Shams Charania tweeted that Morant has been suspended by the Grizzlies for at least two games.

This latest incident comes on the heels of a Washington Post report that Morant was accused of flashing a gun at a 17-year-old boy after they got into an altercation during a game of pickup basketball last summer.
In a separate incident, Morant was accused of getting into it with a mall security guard in a parking lot. Morant said, “Let me see what time he gets off,” which the guard interpreted as a threat.
Both incidents resulted in police reports, but Morant was not arrested or charged in either incident.
Morant began trending on Twitter number one shortly after news broke of his impending investigation and suspension. Most users made light of the situation, with most people wishing the young player would focus more on basketball than acting tough.
