Jadakiss reeled hip-hop fans in with his raspy voice, and years later, his lyrics continue to hit just the same.

Emerging from Yonkers, New York, Jadakiss initially attracted attention as a member of the hip-hop trio The LOX, alongside fellow MCs Styles P and Sheek Louch. The group’s debut album, “Money, Power & Respect,” arrived in 1998, reaching platinum status. While each rapper had something unique to offer the industry, Jadakiss’s gritty, street-centric narratives and sharp delivery quickly made him a standout figure. He branched out on a solo journey with the release of “Kiss Tha Game Goodbye” in 2001, which featured one of his most notable classics, “We Gonna Make It” and “Knock Yourself Out.”

He continued his winning streak with his sophomore album “Kiss of Death” in 2004 and his third project “The Last Kiss” in 2009, which was once again marked by another memorable single, “Why?” featuring Anthony Hamilton. Jada remains a fixture within the genre today and is still highly respected among the newer rap fans. He wowed viewers in a Verzuz battle against Fabolous in 2020 before joining The LOX for a now-famous match-up against Dipset the following year, where their performances were widely praised, many claiming them to be victorious. As we celebrate Jada’s 49th birthday, let’s take a trip down memory lane to some of his most timeless hits that remain on our playlists to this day.
