Janelle Monae is set to headline New York Pride this year!
New York’s Pride announced that the Kansas City native would be joining as the event’s headlining performance this year. Monae will be joined by several other artists, including Chris Brown, Betty Who, and Luisa Sonza, for the 2020 Pride Island festival, which takes place from Friday, June 26 to Sunday, June 28, according to Billboard. Other acts will be DJs Eddie Martinez and Dani Toro.
“Pride means so much to so many of us, and to have the opportunity to share my live performance during Pride has always been a dream. Celebrating Pride in NYC is a rite of passage for a queer person. I am grateful for the community it creates, and I can’t wait to party with everyone,” Monae said in a statement.
Monae will be a part of the legacy of artists who have headlined the event including, Patti Labelle, Grace Jones, Tegan, and more. Madonna was the headliner for last year’s NYC pride. Pre-sale tickets will be available until Thursday, March 12.
