Jason Kelce officially retired from the NFL after a 13-year career with the Philadelphia Eagles. Monday, he became overwhelmed with emotions speaking about how much the city of Philadelphia meant to him.

During his press conference, his immense love for football was evident as his family, including his brother Travis, watched on. Despite being a sixth-round pick, he surpassed all expectations and took everyone on a journey through his childhood, college, and professional career.

“It took a lot of hard work and determination getting here. I have been the underdog my entire career, and I mean this when I say this, I wish I still was,” Kelce said.

Kelce became emotional as he thanked the city of Philadelphia for their support and overwhelming love throughout his career.

“No one celebrates their own like the city of Philadelphia,” Kelce said. “Athletes become demigods in this city.”

Kelce ends his 13-year career with a Super Bowl ring and two appearances and will continue with a long media career. His engaging and authentic personality has led to a growing podcast with his brother Travis, which many networks will welcome.

The All-Pro will be missed and never forgotten.

Take a look at a snippet of Kelce’s emotional retirement speech below.
