A Michigan man has been arrested and charged with six counts of attempted homicide after allegedly driving over 700 miles to Pennsylvania and setting fire to the home of a man who had been communicating with his ex-girlfriend, according to Bensalem police.
The fire occurred around 5:00 a.m. on Feb. 10 in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, completely destroying the two-story home. Six adults were inside the house at the time, with some forced to jump out of second-story windows to escape the flames. Two dogs perished, and the residents suffered injuries ranging from minor to severe.
Authorities say the suspect, Harrison Jones of Rockford, Michigan, set the fire in a fit of jealousy after learning that his ex-girlfriend had been communicating with a 21-year-old Pennsylvania man. Surveillance footage captured a black sedan in the area, and license plate readers led police to Jones’ home in Michigan. When officers executed a search warrant, they found lock-picking tools, electronics, and visible burn injuries on Jones’ arms.
Jones was arrested and is now facing charges of attempted homicide, arson, and risking catastrophe. Police praised investigators for tracing a single grainy image to identify the suspect, who allegedly drove 11 hours each way to commit the crime.
