Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Jen Shah is under fire after her cousin launched a $2.5M GoFundMe campaign to help pay for her legal expenses.

Shah was arrested on March 30th in Salt Lake City. She faces 30 years in prison for carrying out an elaborate telemarketing scam for nine years that targeted the elderly. The scheme was uncovered while Bravo was filming the second season of RHOSLC.
In the now-deleted crowdfunding campaign, her cousin, Danny Filipe, petitioned for “10,000 caring souls to donate $250” to Shah, who has already spent around $138,000 in legal fees. The $2.5 million would supposedly go towards “1 million documents in this case that must be immediately reviewed and analyzed by Jen’s lawyers before her case goes to trial.” The GoFundMe raised a little over $250 before it was removed.
Fans quickly began to slam the 47-year-old, who flaunted her lavish lifestyle on the Bravo series. However, rumors have since circulated that the home she showcased on the show was a rental.
Shah has pleaded not guilty. She is currently out on bond. As part of her release, she is not allowed to leave Utah or the country without the permission of a pretrial official. Shah was ordered to surrender her passport. She is also prohibited from utilizing a credit card, securing a new line of credit, or contacting Stuart Smith, her assistant, and co-conspirator, who helped her carry out the plot.
