John Legend recently shared a lighthearted take on his relationship with Chrissy Teigen, suggesting that sleeping together on their first date may have helped their relationship.
During Legend’s recent appearance on “Club Shay Shay,” host Shannon Sharpe brought up the fact that researchers had advised against sex on the first date. He also recounted how the practice has become more acceptable over the years. In response to that, Legend declared, “Some people say that, but… here we are, 18 years later.”
Teigen previously shared that they hooked up on their first link in a 2018 interview with “Watch What Happens Live.”Â
“I closed the deal the first night,” Chrissy blurted out during the Bravo talk show. “We were on a music video set all day together and then I went to one of his shows and then…yeah,” the model shared at the time with host Andy Cohen.
While speaking with Sharpe, Legend further expounded on how easy his relationship with Teigen is, admitting they don’t have to work as hard as other couples.
“You know, I feel like sometimes you hear folks talk like, oh, man, relationships are such hard work. And Chrissy and I will watch people say that. And if that’s your story, if that’s your experience, then that’s what it is. But for us, it’s really not hard work for us to be together. And there’s challenges that we’ve had, like tragedies that we’ve had to deal with together. Miscarriage and other tragedies we’ve had to deal with together. But us, me and her, it’s never actually been that hard for us to be in a relationship. And I think the reason why is it starts with a mutual respect,” he told an astounded Sharpe.
The couple has been together since 2006 and married in 2013. They have welcomed four children together.
