Jonathan Majors Says He Is in a “Rebirth” Period: “Something Had to Die or I Was Going to Die” [Video]

Jonathan Majors recently addressed those who believe his return to entertainment is questionable. Specifically, many believe that his claims of healing and doing work to better himself following his domestic violence case are disingenuous, something that concerns Majors.

During his interview on Cam Newton’s “Funky Friday,” Majors detailed how he is currently in a “rebirth” period of his life.

“People talk about a comeback. It’s not a comeback. You know what I mean? It’s a rebirth. You know what I mean? It’s a complete rebirth. I think we have to make space for people to have those moments,” he explained. “We talk about it all the time. Oh, well, apologize. Do better. But then someone tries to do better, and they go, ‘Oh, no. He’s full of s**t.'”

Majors lost several roles and business deals after being charged in connection to a domestic violence incident involving ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari in May 2023. Not long after, other former colleagues and acquaintances came forward with claims of troubling behavior by the actor. He was ultimately sentenced to probation and ordered to complete a 52-week domestic violence intervention program.

Despite this, Majors has been working his way back into the public eye. With the upcoming release of his film “Magazine Dreams” and numerous media appearances, he appears to be reestablishing himself in the industry. He also revealed that he secretly married actress Meagan Good, though some have questioned whether that, too, is part of a strategic “comeback.” Still, Majors admits real change was necessary.

“Something had to die or I was going to die. You know what I mean? I was going to go down the road that I didn’t want to go down…And bring everybody that stuck around with me. Daughter, friends. You know what I mean? And my brothers, everybody was going to go down,” he stated.

He also reflected on being “canceled” and what that experience was like for him.

“‘You canceled? Okay. What are you going to do now?’” he recalled asking himself. “This individual, this entertainer, this athlete has done this. Now we’re going to cancel him, throw the book at him. Well, the court already did that. I’m dealing with that. But then you go into your social group or your work environment and you have to pay a penance there too, apparently. I don’t disagree with that. But the idea of cancellation, in my opinion, and it varies, right? And I’ve said this before, so I’ll be bold in saying it, I just think it’s incomplete. I think it’s incomplete. You f**k up, you fall down, you make a mistake. And then you’re in the corner for the rest of your life.”

In addition to “Magazine Dreams,” Majors has also been cast in the upcoming action film “True Threat.”
