Judge Mathis Sued for July 2023 Incident Where He Allegedly Threatened to Shoot City Worker

Judge Greg Mathis has found himself on the opposite side of the law, sitting at the center of an investigation for allegedly pulling out a gun on several city workers.

The heated incident supposedly took place on Tuesday. Employees with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power claim they asked the television judge to move his car as they worked on the street he lives on. The crew needed to move toward another home and could not do so, with Mathis’ vehicle blocking their path. An argument ensued, and the employees claim Mathis flashed his gun and pointed it directly at them.

Mathis had a very different version of events. When speaking to TMZ, Mathis explained that it was water department staffers who were blocking his driveway, which rendered him unable to leave his home. He admitted that he got out of his car and stood in the street to confront them. However, Mathis told the outlet it was the workers who then threatened to run him over with the city vehicle they were operating in. Mathis responded by telling them he had a gun but maintained that he never once retrieved it. The matter ended with the workers moving along and Mathis being granted access to leave his home. However, the city employees filed a police report with the LAPD, who have officially launched an investigation into the courtroom star.

No charges have been announced yet for either side. The L.A. Department of Water and Power has not commented publicly on the situation.
