Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens enter this season with big expectations. With the addition of players like running back Derrick Henry, the team is aiming for a Super Bowl appearance. Jackson, coming off his MVP season, has set high goals for both himself and the team.
Meanwhile, Super Bowl MVP wide receiver Julian Edelman, who transitioned from quarterback to receiver, has found a new home at FOX Sports. During a segment on the pregame show on Sunday, the former New England Patriot was asked which team might challenge the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.
Edelman, reflecting on past predictions, emphasized that he has learned his lesson about betting against the Chiefs. He mentioned the Cincinnati Bengals before discussing Baltimore, where he expressed some doubts, particularly about Jackson.
“I’ve learned my lesson. I will never bet against the Chiefs again,” Edelman told FOX Sports. “It’s not up to the Chiefs. We all know who the Chiefs are. We need to see Lamar Jackson, who’s been on a milk carton in the playoffs—he’s missing.”
Edelman’s point is valid: Jackson has completed only 55% of his passes in the playoffs, a significant drop from his regular-season numbers. Last year, Jackson threw for 3,678 yards, 24 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. With the offense the Ravens’ front office has built around Jackson, his success seems inevitable.
The next challenge is overcoming teams like the reigning champion Kansas City Chiefs, who defeated Baltimore in the AFC Championship. Check out the video of the former Super Bowl champion critiquing Jackson and his expectations for this year’s Super Bowl winner.
