Young Thug‘s YSL Rico case is moving forward after finally seeing progress in the jury selection.
The rapper’s attorney informed 11Alive that a Fulton County judge will begin seating the jury this week. The trial is scheduled to commence on Wednesday, November 1.
Initially, his legal team requested a bond due to the rapper’s deteriorating health after 18 months in pretrial detention, citing physical harm from his lifestyle. However, the bond was denied.
So far, only seven out of the 28 indicted individuals will go to court, as some accepted deals and others were dropped from the case.
In recent developments, Thug’s attorney unveiled a star-studded witness list, including big names in hip-hop such as T.I., Killer Mike, and music executive Lyor Cohen, as indicated in court documents obtained by HipHopDX last month.
In total, Thug’s witness list comprises 45 witnesses, including “any and all co-defendants in the above-referenced Indictment” and “any and all witnesses named in the State’s Witness List as well as any and all witnesses named in the co-defendants’ Witness List.”
