On Tuesday, Donald Trump took to Twitter to fire shots at Democrats over the recent impeachment inquiry, which was launched in response to his controversial conversations with foreign leaders.
In the series of tweets, Trump attacked Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Congressman Adam Schiff and the newly named: ”Do Nothing Democrats” for trying to “win an election through impeachment.”
“The Do Nothing Democrats should be focused on building up our country,” Trump said, before erupting in profanity, adding, “not wasting everyone’s time and energy on BULLSHIT, which is what they have been doing ever since I got overwhelmingly elected in 2016, 223-306. Get a better candidate this time, you’ll need it.”
However, the tweets were just the latest in Trump’s outrage over the impeachment inquiry. In fact, just days after Pelosi launched the inquiry, Trump attacked the whistleblower, denied the claims, and even suggested his impeachment would spark a civil war.
But now, as a result of the Celebrity-in-Chief’s Twitter fingers, Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Kamala Harris has called on Twitter to suspend him over his content.
In a letter to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, according to CNN, Harris highlighted six tweets since last Friday that she claimed violated the platform’s rules, as she believed Trump used his account to “target, harass, and attempt to out the whistleblower” among many other offenses.
“President Trump also published the following tweet suggesting that violence could be incited should Congress issue formal articles of impeachment against him,” Harris wrote, referencing Trump’s Sunday tweet that read: “…If the Democrats are successful in removing the President from office (which they will never be), it will cause a Civil War like fracture in this Nation from which our Country will never heal,” quoting a Fox News supporter.
Harris listed other tweets about Schiff and likened Trump’s behavior to that of conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, who Harris said was previously banned from the platform.
Since then, Twitter has confirmed it received the letter, and said it intends to respond, according to CNN.
