Kanye West has given fans another update on Donda 2, just a day after revealing that the sequel to last year’s Donda would be released on February 22.
On Friday, a video posted on Kanye’s Instagram Story appeared to show the rapper taking a break from recording his upcoming album.
“I don’t have a phone until two, twenty-two, twenty-two,” he said. “My focus is taking my kids to school and finishing the album.”
Given West’s track record of releasing albums on time, some fans believe the album will arrive later than planned.
Kanye’s 11th studio album will be “more monk-like,” with the rapper telling one of the album’s five producers that he wants “simplified” production.
The next record will be produced by Digital Nas, DJ Khaled, Mike Dean, DJ Premier, and West himself, with Future serving as executive producer.
“These are the directives for the album: ‘If it cannot be played at a funeral, childbirth, graduation or a wedding, it will not be on our record,’” West said.
