Kanye West is no stranger to making controversial comments. In fact, that seems to be the reason he stays in the headlines as of late.
The “Jesus Walks” rapper stopped by the Drink Champs podcast for his third interview with hosts Noreaga and DJ EFN, where he made some bogus claims about George Floyd’s death.
“I watched the George Floyd documentary that Candace Owens put up,” Ye said. “One of the things that his two roommates said was ‘they want a tall guy like me. They want a tall guy like me.'”
The fashion mogul is referencing Owens’ new documentary, “The Greatest Lie Ever Sold: George Floyd and the Rise of BLM.” Kanye was recently photographed with Owens at the screening of the doc.
He continued, “And the day when he died, he said a prayer for eight minutes. He said a prayer for eight minutes. They hit him with the fentanyl. If you look, the guy’s knee wasn’t even on his neck like that.”
Kanye goes on to say that Floyd was not calling out for his mother but rather his girlfriend.
“When he said ‘mama,’ mama is his girlfriend,” he alleges. “They said he screamed for his mama. Mama was his girlfriend. It’s in the documentary.”
Ye must have forgotten that we’ve all seen the video that captured Derek Chauvin kneeling on Floyd for more than nine minutes, suffocating the life out of him. Chauvin and three other Minneapolis police officers were arrested and charged with Floyd’s death. All have been sentenced to prison time.
Floyd’s death in May of 2020 sparked protests against police brutality and racism not just across the country but internationally as well.
