Keke Palmer Revisits Her Experience With Trey Songz While Discussing New Film: “The Biggest Mistake You Can Make Is Trusting Somebody”

Keke Palmer, who has spent over twenty years in the entertainment industry, opens up about her journey.

On Friday, the talented actress unveiled her latest album, “Big Boss,” along with a self-written film. This project not only serves as her directorial debut but also as a personal account of her experiences in the music industry, including facing business obstacles and instances of sexual harassment.

In a recent interview, Palmer discussed the creation of her emotionally raw album and film, emphasizing the importance of addressing sexual harassment in the music industry. She also revisited her experience with Trey Songz while explaining the film’s scenes.

“The situation in that scene was after, I think, the incident [with Songz],” Palmer began. “As I depicted in the film, it was somebody who I thought was a friend, where I’m thinking that I’m putting myself maybe in better situations, but I continuously will find myself around people in weird situations that I thought were friends or family. That’s probably the bigger thing. When all that stuff went down, people kept saying, “Oh, well why did she do this?” Well, because I thought I could trust this person, and that’s the unfortunate thing.

She continued, “Those scenes are real. Those scenes are not actually inspired by that moment. Obviously, people know that moment and are aware of that scenario from when it happened and when I spoke about it. But that just goes to show, that was one of many moments where things go down in this industry.

Palmer entered the music industry at a young age following her debut onscreen role in”Barbershop 2: Back in Business.” she signed with Atlantic Records at the age of 12 and subsequently released her first album, “So Uncool,” in 2007. Over the following decade, she experienced a series of false starts and dealt with record labels such as Interscope and Island Records. However, in 2018, she took matters into her own hands and established her own record label, Big Bosses Entertainment. Since then, she has enjoyed the freedom to release her music on her own terms.
