Kevin Durant is on the move again. On Sunday, the NBA officially confirmed his trade to the Houston Rockets, marking the end of his three-season run with the Phoenix Suns. While his time in Phoenix was packed with scoring fireworks, the big prize, an NBA championship, remained elusive.
Durant’s impact in Phoenix was undeniable. He set a franchise record by averaging 26.8 points per game, surpassing a mark that stood untouched for over 50 years. Despite his elite production, the Suns’ roster struggled with balance and depth, ultimately falling short in the playoffs during each of Durant’s seasons.
In a heartfelt social media post, Durant expressed gratitude for his time in the desert.
“My time in Phoenix has come to an end. All these stops along the journey have really impacted me in a positive way,” he wrote. “Remember it’s a world behind the scenes, and those who make things work in that space, work tirelessly to make our lives easier as players. I appreciate all the quick interactions with everybody from support staff to teammates’ distant cousins, it’s all a family that I’m grateful to be part of, no matter what. I truly believe this NBA is one big community.”

Durant, who’s now played for six different franchises, including Seattle, Oklahoma City, Golden State, Brooklyn, and Phoenix, heads to Houston with 17 years in the league under his belt and still hungry for another ring.
Whether the Rockets can finally help him get there is the question that looms next.
