Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson‘s son originally carried her last name but was later changed to Thompson.
TMZ reported Monday that Tatum Thompson was originally given the Kardashian surname. Sources also revealed that for the first 10 months, the child didn’t have a first name and was simply referred to as “Baby” until Khloe chose the name, Tatum.
After reconsideration, Khloe decided to alter her decision and legally changed Tatum’s last name to Thompson.
While no explanations were provided for the name change, it is presumed to be connected to the former couple welcoming baby Tatum via surrogacy during the time news broke that Tristan was expecting a child with Maralee Nichols.
At the time when the news of the surrogacy became public, Khloe and Tristan were not in regular communication with each other, except for their shared responsibility of co-parenting their five-year-old daughter.
Since then, the relationship dynamics between the former partners have undergone significant changes, leading fans to speculate that Khloe and Tristan had reconciled. The allegations forced Khloe to lash out on social media.
“Most [people] are stuck at believing the lies because it’s the narrative they want to fuel. Have fun…. Some things are just as simple as they seem,” she wrote. “A family member supporting another family member ESPECIALLY during a difficult time in life.”
