Khloé Kardashian isn’t letting her split with Tristan Thompson mess with her daughter True’s perception of family.
In a recent episode of The Kardashians, Khloé opened up about how her 5-year-old thinks she and Tristan are married and how she’s handling it.
“I don’t want True going through life thinking this is what a marriage is,” Khloé says in the confessional. “That you’re married to someone and they don’t live with you, you never have to kiss them, or you don’t sleep in the same bed together.”
Khloé, who shares True and son Tatum with Tristan, admits that while she wants her kids to understand love, affection, and romance, she’s focused on shielding them from adult drama. “Kids should not be involved in adult problems,” she adds.
In a conversation with her bestie, Malika Haqq, Khloé explains that True likely doesn’t fully grasp the situation, but she wants to keep it simple for now. “It’s probably better for her,” Malika agrees, acknowledging the need to protect kids from the complexities of adult relationships.
Khloé also expressed her hope for the future, saying she would love to have a husband one day and show her children what a loving, affectionate relationship looks like.
“I do want them to have that. And when she’s older, I can explain it to her. But right now, I believe you do things for your kids because kids should not be involved in adult problems.”
For now, though, she’s keeping her focus on what’s best for True.
