Kim Burrell is ready to get back to ministering after her recent distasteful comments.
Burrell and Pastor Dr. Michael Freeman say that the gospel singer isn’t letting the recent backlash cancel her. Burrell believes God called her to minister to the congregation and understands that she crossed the line with her statement.
Burrell says Pastor Freeman and others have counseled her and will ensure she doesn’t repeat her performance. Pastor Freeman explained to TMZ why he chose to help Burrell and not ridicule her. He says the congregation wants to surround Burrell with love instead of tearing her down.
“We don’t shoot the soldier we nurse them,” Pastor Freeman says.
If you’re not aware, last week, Burrell went viral for calling people “broke” and “ugly” during her sermon. Burrell later realized that what she said was distasteful and said the comments were made in “jest.” The singer gave a written apology which most people felt she wasn’t sincere.
She also posted a remorseful video saying that she wants people to see her heart and understand that she takes full responsibility for her actions.
