In the forthcoming episode of “Keeping Up With The Kardashians,” Kim Kardashian is taking on her husband’s, “Slavery Is a Choice” comments, in trying to justify his controversial statement. Problem is, she doesn’t even remember what was said.
“I always know what Kanye’s intentions are and what he’s trying to say, but I also know that they’re gonna write a headline and people are gonna assume that that’s exactly what you said and what you meant,” Kardashian said in the green screen segment. “Kanye’s slavery comment, he never said that. That was just the headline.”
As Kardashian continued, she went on to misquote her husband, saying, “If you listen to what he said, he said, ‘Slavery was 400 years, if it’s going to be another 400 years, that sounds like a choice to me.’ He didn’t say, ‘Slavery is a choice,’ he was saying, ‘If you’re gonna still be enslaved for another 400 years, then that’s some bullshit.”
“That as a wife is really frustrating to see the media take everything and run with it,” she said. But unfortunately for Kim, ‘Ye’s comment made no mention of “another 400 years.”
In fact, in the live video, which wasn’t edited – despite the claims made in the episode – ‘Ye said, “When you hear about slavery for 400 years, for 400 years? That sounds like a choice. Like, you was there for 400 years and it’s all of y’all?”
So, if Kim was being technical- No, Kanye West did not say, “Slavery Is a choice,” he said, “That sounds like a choice to me,” which is clearly the same thing. But, okay.
