Kodak Black Receives Key to Pompano Beach, Honored for Giving Back to His Hometown

Kodak Black is back in his hometown, but this time, not for a performance or a headline-making moment. The Florida rapper returned to Pompano Beach to receive the key to the city in recognition of his ongoing commitment to giving back to the community that raised him.

During a special ceremony, Pompano Beach Mayor Rex Hardin praised Kodak—real name Bill Kapri—for not forgetting where he came from. “His journey from these very streets to international acclaim has been remarkable,” Hardin said, “but his heart has never left this community.”

Kodak has been quietly doing the work. He’s donated air conditioning units to public housing residents, handed out turkeys during the holidays, gifted Christmas presents and bikes to local kids, and even helped 200 families in Pompano cover their rent—not once, but twice.

His charitable spirit has also reached Palm Beach County. In 2021, his Zachariah McQueen Foundation partnered with A Different Shade of Love to donate AC units to families in Riviera Beach, extending his mission beyond city borders.
