While appearing on “All the Smoke Fight,” Ali didn’t hold back, expressing her frustration with Shields’ approach.
“You can think you can beat me, you can think that—that’s fine. But to start going in on my legacy and what I have and haven’t done? I was like, ‘Wow, that’s a lot,'” Ali shared.
Shields, often regarded as one of the top fighters of her generation, has made bold statements about her capabilities. She’d previously taken issue with Ali stating that she could easily defeat Shields.
Ali sharply criticized Shields’ attitude, emphasizing the importance of humility and character in the sport.
“I don’t have any hard feelings against Clarissa in general, because I got a lot going on over here, you already know, to be worried about any of these young girls like that,” the 47-year-old said. “But at the same time, I see that she gets into it with a lot of people. She gets into it with a lot of female fighters. She gets into it with male fighters. So obviously that’s a thing for her. Hopefully, she’ll figure that out because you’re not going to get very far in this life if you continue burning bridges.”
