A Los Angeles Lakers fan who claimed LeBron James’ “retirement tease” cost him hundreds has officially dropped his lawsuit against the NBA superstar.
Court documents obtained by TMZ show Andrew Garcia filed to dismiss his small claims case against LeBron on Monday.
Just 12 days ago, Garcia filed the claim, stating that he rushed to buy two tickets for the Lakers’ March 31st, 2026 game against the Cleveland Cavaliers after LeBron told fans he had a major announcement on October 7th. Thinking it would be LeBron’s retirement, Garcia spent $432.83 per ticket. But when the reveal turned out to be an alcohol ad, he said the tickets “lost almost all of their value.” Garcia sued the NBA billioniare for $865.66.
In his complaint, Garcia accused LeBron of “fraud, deception, and misrepresentation.” However, his stance changed after a rep from PrizePicks reached out, offering him free Lakers tickets and merchandise. Garcia said that once he accepted the offer, he decided to drop the case.
LeBron James and his camp have not publicly commented on the situation.
