Lamar Odom is choosing reset over excuses after a recent arrest forced another honest check-in with himself.
According to Page Six, weeks after being taken into custody in Las Vegas, the former NBA champion has quietly entered a residential treatment program, committing to 30 days of structured care. The decision came earlier this month and, according to those closest to him, followed serious self-reflection about how quickly things can slide if warning signs go unchecked.
His manager, Gina Rodriguez, emphasized that this was not a court-ordered move or a public relations play. Instead, she framed it as a personal choice rooted in responsibility and prevention.
“After a recent incident, he took a step back to reflect and address triggers he’s been dealing with,” Rodriguez told the outlet. “He’s taking full responsibility and choosing to be proactive about his well-being.”
Rodriguez also said Odom is “grateful for the support and is committed to moving forward in a healthy, positive way.”
Odom was arrested on January 17 and charged with driving under the influence. Law enforcement records show he is also dealing with two additional traffic citations tied to the stop, including driving more than 41 miles per hour over the posted speed limit and failing to maintain his lane.
As part of his treatment, Odom is reportedly stepping away from marijuana use. People familiar with his mindset say he views it as a potential gateway that could reconnect him to far more dangerous habits from his past.
The facility where Odom is staying focuses on substance use recovery alongside mental health treatment, with an emphasis on long-term wellness and accountability.
Now 46, Lamar Odom has lived much of his recovery journey in public. In 2015, he survived a near-fatal overdose after being found unconscious at a Nevada brothel, an incident that left him in a coma and changed the course of his life. His then-wife, Khloé Kardashian, paused divorce proceedings at the time to help oversee his care.
Odom has since spoken openly about how fragile sobriety can be. In a 2021 interview, he shared that supervised ketamine treatments helped him regain balance.
