Lil’ Kim’s prayers for a monsoon in Los Angeles were answered, at least partially, and fans are thankful.
A week after facing criticism, the rapper is being praised for her heartfelt wish for rain to ease the devastating wildfires that have ravaged LA since January 7th. Thousands of homes and buildings have been lost, marking an unprecedented disaster in California’s history.
“Been sending strong prayers up for LA and everyone affected by the fires. This is heartbreaking. I pray to Jesus that God make it monsoon in LA,” tweeted the “Not Tonight” artist on January 16th, revealing her spiritual side.

Days later, on January 25th, rain finally arrived, providing much-needed relief to exhausted firefighters battling the blazes fueled by dry vegetation and fierce winds. Heavy rains and thunderstorms are forecast through Tuesday, though some areas now face flood warnings.
Fans were quick to credit Lil’ Kim. “It’s raining in LA! Everyone say thank you @LilKim” one user wrote, while another added, “Thank you Lil Kim for the rain this weekend, couldn’t have done it without you!!”

Initially, her tweet faced slight backlash, with many calling out how devastating a monsoon could be for the area, which is already facing unprecedented destruction from the fire. Addressing the reactions, she clarified, “What LA really needs is rain — so what’s the issue? Doesn’t everyone understand that a monsoon is heavy rain?”
