Back in October, Denise Garcia, ex-girlfriend and baby mama of Lonzo Ball, called out the Los Angeles star for his initial absence in his newborn daughter’s life.
In an Instagram live video, Garcia responded to a few questions, in which she was asked to “wink if Lonzo is a deadbeat dad.” In response, Garcia blinked her eyes and laughed it off. Problem is, Lonzo and his father, LaVar Ball, failed to find the humor in the accusation.
In fact, in the most recent episode of the Ball Family’s Facebook show, the baller confronted Garcia over her deleted-post and condemned her for making such an outlandish claim.
“Came to see the deadbeat, huh?” Lonzo asked as she responded, “I was just having fun with it.”
“That was fun for you?” he asked. “You had fun? You’re laughing, but it’s really not funny though.”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Although Garcia apologized for the joke, saying, “I shouldn’t have done it at all. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it,” she did express her issues with Zo’s parenting skills. But, at the end of the day, she was joking.
Despite the joke, LaVar didn’t appreciate the public sander of his son. “How do you call somebody a deadbeat when you just had the baby?” LaVar asked of Zo’s relationship with his then-three month-old grandbaby. Elsewhere in the episode, LaVar asked his wife if she was training to square up with their son’s ex.
“Are you getting in shape for a reason,” LaVar asked. “So, you can knock the hell outta Denise?!”
But, for what it’s worth, Zo did acknowledge his shortcomings as a father, saying, “Denise wants me to be more present during the weekends with her and Zoey, I see where she’s obviously coming from…I’m trying to make an effort to get there as much as possible.”
So, who was his Dad talking about when choosing a woman? 🤣😂 Only the ones who are Black.
