From Disney/Marvel to biographical work in the film adaptation of ‘The Daily Show’ host Trevor Noah’s autobiography “Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood.”

“When I read @TrevorNoah’s ‘ Born A Crime,’ I could not put the book down. Excited to announce that I will be starring in and producing its feature film adaptation,” Nyong’o announced on Twitter.

According to reports, the book spent 26 weeks on the bestseller list, securing the James Thurber Prize for American Humor and two NAACP Image Awards, so we can only imagine the film will be just as good.

Produced by Noah himself, alongside Nyong’o and more, the film will chronicle the host’s life, growing up in South Africa with a Swiss father and a South African black mother during a time where interracial relationships were illegal.

Nyong’o will play Noah’s mother, Patricia, who had a prominent role in his life in his earlier years.

“My mom always treated me like the adult she wanted me to become….she taught me to be independent. She taught me to be caring. She taught me to have empathy,” Noah told CNN.
