An Oregon man was arrested after he tricked a woman into believing she was training as a Drug Enforcement Administration agent for about a year.

Robert Edwards Golden was charged with impersonating a federal agent. It is unknown if the unidentified woman is facing any charges.

According to court documents, police informed the DEA Portland District Office that they came across two people impersonating agents. The two were observed standing by a vehicle with police lights over the license plate and inside the car.

A tactical vest labeled “DEA Police” was discovered in the car’s trunk. When approached by police, Golden informed them that they were feds and produced a replica gun with ammunition. He also admitted to having more gear in the car and at his home.

When questioned, Golden told investigators that the two were into cosplay. It is believed that the woman was tricked into believing Golden was a law enforcement agent and thought she was in training. She admitted her badge and credentials were given to her by Golden.

“I believe Golden has tricked [the woman] into believing he is in fact a DEA agent, and she is in fact in training to be a DEA agent,” DEA Special Agent Morgan T. Barr said in the complaint.

In convicted, Golden is facing up to three years in prison.
