After two long years, Eric Holder, the man accused of killing Nipsey Hussle, has been given a trial date.
On Wednesday, a Los Angeles County judge scheduled Holderās trial for January 5th, 2022. Holder is facing one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, and one count of felony possession of a firearm in connection to the fatal March 31st, 2019 shooting that claimed the life of the beloved rapper outside of his Marathon clothing store. He has pleaded not guilty to all counts.
Nipsey and Holder exchanged words regarding Holder being a snitch on that fateful day at the store. Holder left but returned shortly after, shooting Nip multiple times before fleeing the scene. The āVictory Lapā MC died later at a local hospital. He was just 33-years-old.
Holderās trial has been delayed several times due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the resignation of his former defense attorney, Chris Darden, who was the famous co-prosecutor in the O. J. Simpson murder trial. Darden pulled out of the case, citing threats to his family. He was replaced by Deputy Public Defender Aaron Jansen, who plans to focus heavily on Holderās deteriorating mental state on the day of the murder.
āOne of the things affecting him in March 2019 was that his mother had just passed away,ā Jansen stated in June. He added that Holder was experiencing a mental breakdown of some sort on the day of the killing and was āoff his medicationā when he brutally murdered Nipsey.
